Being deaf does not necessarily
prevent a person from driving however; being deaf
does prevent a person from doing other things most
(hearing) people take for granted.
This film is a view about a deaf man (Bobby) and his
family. Bobby
has two deaf parents, a hearing wife, and two deaf
sons. A camera crew follows Bobby and
his family for a period of time documenting their
interactions with individuals from the deaf and
hearing communities. Bobby struggles within
his “world of silence” yearning to be understood,
valued, and accepted like any other person.
He overcomes challenges and lives to achieve
the elusive “American Dream.”
